Pre-op

  • Health History: Please inform our team if you have any acute or chronic illnesses, allergies, or cold sores.

  • Medications: You must stop taking all blood-thinning medications (aspirin, painkillers, supplements) at least 1 week before your surgery date.

  • Fasting: You should stop eating or drinking anything (including water) at least 8 hours before your surgery. It’s best to have your last meal before midnight.

  • Routine Medications: Please bring your regular medications (blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, etc.) and inform us about them.

  • Birth Control Pills (for female patients): If you use birth control pills, please inform us. It is recommended to stop using them one month before surgery if possible.

  • Infectious Diseases: If you have any infectious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, etc.), even if they are undiagnosed, you must inform us.

  • Accurate Health Information: It is crucial that you provide accurate information about your health. Any incorrect or missing information will void our responsibilities regarding your health.

  • Pre-Op Tests: You must visit the hospital for blood tests and meet with the anesthesiologist at least one day before the surgery. Patients coming from abroad should arrange their flights accordingly.

  • Surgery Payment: The surgery fee must be paid in cash at the clinic the day before the surgery.

  • Arrival Time: Please arrive at the hospital at least 1.5 hours before your surgery. Surgery Process:

  • Duration: The surgery will take approximately 2 hours. Including preparation and recovery, you will return to your room in about 2.5 to 3 hours.

  • Post-Surgery Rest: You should not stand up within the first 3 hours after surgery. You can get up under nurse supervision after 3 hours.

  • Food After Surgery: Soft, salt-free food will be provided after 3 hours. Limiting salt intake is important for swelling control and faster recovery.

  • Medications: All medications will be administered by the hospital during your stay. After your discharge, the clinic assistant will give you your medications and explain the usage instructions.

  • Hygiene: You can wash your body, but be careful when washing your hair. You may need help to avoid water touching the bandages. A small amount of water is not a problem.

  • Hospital Stay: You will stay one night in the hospital. One companion can accompany you in your room. You can be discharged early the next morning.

  • Nasal Splint Removal: The splint will be removed on the 6th day.

Post-op

⋆ Ice application should be started after the operation, you should apply 30-45-minutes every hour whole day.
⋆ Your head should be at least 45°C high when lying down. For the first 1 week, you should not lie facing left or right.

⋆ When you go home after discharge, you may experience nausea or vomiting due to movement in the vehicle. Bleeding may occur for a few minutes after vomiting. This is an expected situation.
⋆ Aftercare medicine will be given you. You should use these drugs as directed.

⋆ You should change the gauze put in front of your nose when it gets dirty.
⋆ Due to the medications applied on the first day, you can generally breathe easily through your nose. After the second day, your nose will begin to swell internally and externally. During this time, your nose may be blocked. However, you may not be able to breathe easily through your nose for the first 4 days. Using spray will help you to clean dry blood in the nose.
⋆ Generally, swelling and bruises are not common on the first day. The next day, swelling may continue up to the 3rd day for some patients. There may be bruises above and below the eyes. After the third day, swelling and bruises begin to decrease rapidly and almost disappear at the end of the tenth day. You should avoid sun light contact for bruising site if you have
⋆ You may have a pink discharge from your nose for the first four days. If bright red and non-stop bleeding occurs, you should contact with us.
⋆ Our team will share your first follow-up appointment after the surgery with you. On that appointment; the cast on the nose and nasal retainer will be removed, then the nose will be taped again and will remain taped for one week.
⋆ We recommend our patients to walk every day.
⋆ After the day of surgery, you can take a shower with your head and body separate. Take care not to let water touch your face so that your bands and splint do not get wet.
⋆ The best time to return to work after the operation is 1st week.
⋆ Our patients do not experience any restrictions on eating and drinking from the first day after the operation. You can deink coffee, you should drink 2 litres of water daily.
⋆ The week after cast removal, you can take a shower with the bands on your nose avoiding shampoo or shower gel contact. On 7th day of tapes; You should soften the bands with the help of shampoo and remove them with slow movements.
⋆ Depending on your nose skin in the first two weeks, oily skin, flaking and acne may increase. These reactions usually resolve spontaneously. If it persists, help from a dermatologist can be sought. This may continue for a couple months depends on the skin type.
⋆ In the first three months, nasal congestion may occur from time to time due to swelling in the nose.

⋆ However, as the weeks pass, the edema from inside and outside the nose will decrease. For this reason, you will begin to breathe better.
⋆ Edema will be evident in the first six months, especially in patients with thick skin. These patients should be aware and have patience. It takes two years for patients with thick skin to recover and take their final shape.

⋆ You are suggested to walk daily and you can start easy excersises and jogging after 4 weeks. You can start full excercise inluding lifting after 8 months. You should not wear glasses for the first 3 months.
⋆ We strongly recommend you to use sunscreen even if the weather is cloudy for the first 1 year.

⋆ In the first month after the operation, it is important that our patients do not enter the sea and pool to avoid infection. After a month, you can swim in the sea and in the pool.
⋆ For long-term sunbathing, it would be appropriate for our patients to cover their faces with a hat or towel.
⋆ High temperature activities such as Turkish bath and sauna are not suitable for the first three months.
⋆ In any unexpected situations, please consult us.
⋆ Please send us photo on the first month.
⋆ While it takes 1 year for thin and normal-skinned patients to take the final shape of their nose, it may take two years for the nose to take longer shape in patients with thick skin.
⋆ You may experience breathing difficulties due to edema in the nose for the first three months after surgery.
⋆ We wish all the patients we work with a speedy recovery and a smooth post-operative period.
⋆ We recommend not to smoke or drink alcohol in the first month. Avoiding alcohol and smoking as much as possible during the first 3 months and paying attention to a healthy diet will positively affect the formation of healing tissue.

MEDICATION USE

1-AUGMENTIN (antibiotic) 500 mg: 1 pill in the morning / 1 pill in the evening (After meal) 2-ARVELES (painkiller NSAI) 25 mg: 1 pill in the morning / 1 pill in the evening (After meal) 3-PAROL (soft painkiller) 500 mg: 1 pill in the morning / 1 pill in the evening (After meal)

(in case of need)
4-THIOCILLINE POMADE: Apply into the nose at once in the morning / once in the

evening. It is not for the eyes, it should be used over the stitches and into nostrils around the retainer.)

5-NASAL SPRAY: It is suitable to be used inside the nose up 10 times a day. You can refill it with water and use it again. You may use until end of first month after surgery.

6-ALLERSET (antihistamine) 10 mg:1 pill in the evening (Only 7 days) (After meal)
