ULTRASONIC RHINOPLASTY

Rhinoplasty ; It is an operation in which the external structure of the nose is reshaped and anatomical problems that cause nasal congestion are corrected.

While the nose can usually be reduced during rhinoplasty , the smaller nose can be enlarged.

When the nose is reduced, the nasal arch is usually taken first, and then the wide nasal bones are cut (broken) at the nasal face junction, mobilized and narrowed. Piezo; It is one of the options used when cutting bones. Piezo; Although it is known that it is beneficial with less bruising and swelling in the postoperative period, its main benefit is to reduce unwanted results in the long term by making bone fractures more controlled.

Open Tech? Closed technique?

Open technique ; It is advantageous in terms of allowing piezo application, providing better vision of large areas, shortening the surgical time mostly and gaining better control of the structure during the nasal tip.

Closed technique; It is advantageous in that the ligaments of the nasal tip, which is a moving organ, are less damaged and the healing process is faster.

In my own practice; I use the advantageous parts of both techniques by performing subperichondrial dissection and ligament repairs, which are the advantages of the closed technique, as well as using the open technique.

How is pre-operative planning done?

In our clinic, before the surgery, I take high-resolution photos of the patient and plan the changes to be made in the appearance by making photoshop on the photo. The situation that needs to be considered in this method; photoshop is an intermediary program for the patient and the doctor to speak the same language. The most important information he should give to the patient is the changes in levels. From what alignment is the arch taken, how much is the nasal root intervened, or how much does the nose lip angle change? It is done to give concrete answers to these questions. With the surgery, not only the nose borders that can be intervened with Photoshop, but the whole nose will change, so it may not reflect the exact result.

How does the operation process go?

In addition to the Ear Nose Throat examination, routine anesthesia examinations are performed before the operation, the anesthesiologist evaluates the patient and decides whether it is suitable for surgery.

The operation takes 2.5 hours on average. After staying in hospital for one night, you are discharged the next morning.

Post-operative treatments; The first day of ice applications and the daily care of the silicone tampons applied afterwards are explained to the patient.

Will there be bruising and swelling after the operation?

Post-operative bruising and swelling can be reduced depending on the methods applied, but its formation cannot be prevented completely.

In my own practice, I take the necessary measures to reduce bruising and swelling with subperichondrial dissection and piezo, but; Due to patient-related factors, we may encounter bruises at varying rates, in which there are patients who do not have any bruising or swelling.

Post-operative recovery period

The silicone pads in the nose and the splint on the back of the nose are removed in the first week after the surgery. Nose bandage is applied for 5 days. The next healing process varies with the skin structure. In patients with thin skin, improvement can be achieved in all coarse edema usually around the 1st month, while in patients with thicker skin structure, this period can take 2-3 months. It takes 1-2 years for the nose to take its final shape. After this period, there are negligible changes.
